Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea: £65m Everton striker says agent is sorting out his future

Tom Dutton25 June 2016

Romelu Lukaku has left his future in his agent's hands while he attempts to help Belgium to Euro 2016 glory in France.

Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte hopes to strengthen the club's strikeforce with either Lukaku or Spain international Alvaro Morata this summer, but the former may yet remain at Everton.

Lukaku left Stamford Bridge for Goodison Park for £28million two years ago, but the Toffees are understood to now value the striker at £65million following 28 Premier League goals since departing west London.

Everton remain determined to keep hold of their striker despite his comments in March, when he outlined an intention to play Champions League football from next season.

Chelsea, of course, will not be able to offer Lukaku a place in Europe's primary club competition, but remain hopeful they can tempt him back to Stamford Bridge.

"It's my agent who is dealing with [my future]," Lukaku told Sky Sports News HQ. "I'm just focused on Belgium, and the most important thing is helping my team."

It comes after Lukaku's representative Mino Raiola this week suggested Lukaku has had a change of heart and may opt to remain at Everton.

Raiola said: "Everton don't need money anymore. Romelu wants to play for a club that can win trophies.

"Something's changed at Everton: there's a new project. If he leaves, it's has to be a good deal for all parties involved."
