Sam Allardyce has urged Wilfried Zaha to stay at Crystal Palace this summer.

Zaha is attracting interest from a number of big Premier League clubs but Allardyce believes Palace is the best place for the winger to continue his development.

“Wilfried's contract has a considerable time to run. The summer will bring whatever it brings.

"Whether it is us negotiating a new contract and he wants to stay, or whether an outrageous bid comes along.

“But from a personal point of view he needs to stay here and play every week and be the key man to help Crystal Palace get better and better.

“That development has happened since he came back from Manchester United. He is getting closer to the final product. I think he can find himself even more so if he stays here. I am not in control of that.”

Allardyce said: “I find it very difficult that we can't celebrate these days. You can't take your shirt off, you can’t come off the pitch, you can’t have a bit of fun.

“The two of them have bonded since they got here and part of Christian playing well is his partnership on and off the field with Mama Sakho.

"They had a little talk before the game about what might happen if he scored. They used a bit of entertainment value.”

Allardyce also confirmed Palace defender James Tomkins could miss the rest of the season with the ankle injury he suffered in the 2-1 win at Anfield.
