Former West Ham loanee Simone Zaza has completed his loan move to Valencia.

The Italian international has joined the Spanish giants until the end of the season with Valencia then having an option in place for the subsequent purchase of Zaza from Juventus.

West Ham had a similar clause in their £5million agreement to take Zaza from the Italian champions in the summer but theirs tied them to completing a £20m signing after he completed a requisite number of games for the Hammers.

After 11 appearances in all competitions without a goal Zaza was frozen out at the London Stadium and did not feature under Slaven Bilic from November 27 onwards.

Valencia coach Voro said of the 25-year-old earlier this week: “Zaza is a proven player who was also wanted by the previous Coach and director of sport. Even though he didn’t play very much in England this season, he has character and will help us a lot.”

West Ham hope to replace Zaza with Brentford striker Scott Hogan. The Championship’s fifth highest scorer was left out of his side’s loss to Newcastle on Saturday but the Bees have made clear they will not sell the 24-year-old for any less than their £15m asking price.
