Positive news: Rio Ferdinand has been making good progress

England centre-half Rio Ferdinand is close to returning to action after a threemonth lay-off with a knee injury.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Rio is making good progress now."

Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar could be back in the team against Burnley tomorrow. He has been on compassionate leave since before Christmas after his wife Annemarie suffered a stroke.
