Slavisa Jokanovic has offered his apologies to Maccabi Tel Aviv fans, telling them he is seeking the security of a job in England.

Fulham announced that Jokanovic would be their new manager on Sunday, ending a stretch of nearly two months without a manager at Craven Cottage.

The 47-year-old manager joined the Israeli giants only in June after a similarly brief stint at Watford, during which time he guided the Hornets into the Premier League.

And Jokanovic is keen to return to the English game even if it means ending his spell in Tel Aviv in controversial fashion.

"I apologise to the Maccabi supporters and I see that they are the most loyal fans, one of the most amazing I've seen in my football career," Jokanovic told the Israeli club's website.

"This made the games I played here at Bloomfield and on Europe great and I enjoyed the city of Tel Aviv.

"I want to thank all of the people here in Israel, including the press and friends that I've made during my time.

"There's a very important job in London coming up with Fulham and I am looking for stability and I hope to be there a very long time."

Jokanovic is the fifth manager at Fulham since Shahid Khan took over as chairman in July 2013, since when the club have slipped out of the top flight and found themselves among the Championship's strugglers.
