Ralph Hasenhuttl says Southampton will not be scared of Tottenham despite Antonio Conte having revived their fearsome forward line.
Spurs started the season struggling for goals under Nuno Espirito Santo but the forwards have found their feet once more since Conte’s arrival, with all three of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura finding the back of the net against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.
Tottenham are a different prospect to that which would have visited St. Mary’s under the guidance of Nuno, but Hasenhuttl - who hailed Spurs as one of the League’s best - says his side will not fear the visitors.
“Yeah well it is not so surprising when you speak about Son, Kane and Moura," said Hasenhuttl when asked about Tottenham’s threat.
"There is not much better in the Premier League, so I think it is more important that he stabilised the squad defensively also, and this is what he definitely did.
"They are working harder, have definitely made a step forward. They are one of the best teams in the league. But we are not scared. We have shown that against top teams we can take points and this is our plan for Tuesday.”
The Austrian added: “[They are] a strong side, very mentally strong now, with a lot of quality up front and in every position, a very intense way of playing now, and a super tough challenge for us.
"But as always we are also a physically good team, and we will fight for everything on Tuesday. This game has given us a bit of a boost, it has definitely helped us as we go into two home games now with our crowd behind us, to show them a really good fight.”
