Spurs face Hearts for Europa League spot

11 April 2012

Tottenham will play Hearts for a place in the Europa League group stages after today's play-off draw in Nyon paired Harry Redknapp's team with the Scottish club.

Spurs travel to Edinburgh for the first leg of the all-British clash on August 18 before the return match at White Hart Lane a week later, just three days after the north London club play Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Fulham's reward for last night's win against RNK Split is a meeting with Ukrainian side Dnipro.

Carling Cup winners Birmingham face Nacional of Portugal while Stoke will take on FC Thun of Switzerland.

The 2010 Europa League runners-up travel to Dnipropetrovsk for the first leg before a 6pm kick-off at Craven Cottage on August 25.

Martin Jol's team booked their place in the play-offs with an impressive 2-0 win against Split and USA midfielder Clint Dempsey believes the victory can set the tone for the rest of the season.
