Aston Villa have sacked manager Steve Bruce after just 11 games of the Championship season, the club have confirmed.

Bruce, who had a cabbage thrown at him by a Villa fan during last night’s 3-3 draw with Preston, took the Midlands side to the play-off final last season, where they were beaten by Fulham.

However, after a turbulent summer which included a change of ownership as well as an attempt to replace Bruce with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, Villa have won just three of their League games so far this season and sit 12th in the Championship, having also been knocked out of the League Cup by League One Burton Albion.

The club have been linked with a move for Brentford manager Dean Smith, who has impressed in recent years and has lead his side to a unbeaten home start to the season, however, former England manager Sam Allardyce is the favourite for the job, with ex-Chelsea and Villa defender John Terry at 14/1.

Next Aston Villa manager odds (via Betfair)
Sam Allardyce 7/2
Thierry Henry 5/1
Martin O'Neill 6/1
Roberto Martinez 7/1
David Moyes 12/1
Frank de Boer 14/1
John Terry 14/1

Up next for managerless Villa is a trip to Millwall on Saturday.
