Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Fabio Borini on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old had an indifferent, injury-hit season with Liverpool last term after reuniting with Brendan Rodgers, under whom he excelled in Swansea’s promotion campaign in 2011.
But Borini could not recapture that form in the Premier League, scoring just once for the Merseyside club and will hope for better fortune under the stewardship of Paolo Di Canio.
Borini is expected to be followed into the club by his countryman Andrea Dossena.
The Napoli left-back spent two seasons in the Premier League at Liverpool but struggled to establish himself in the first team.
