Pep Guardiola to ‘stay connected’ with Man City side during Swindon FA Cup tie amid Covid-19 absence

Pep Guardiola will stay “connected” with his Manchester City side from home after being forced to miss tonight’s FA Cup clash at Swindon.

Guardiola has, along with 20 other members of City’s first-team bubble, tested positive for the virus and assistant Rodolfo Borrell will take charge at the County Ground.

Seven of those 21 cases are first-team players, but City are determined to play tonight and Guardiola will still be able to relay information to his coaches and players while he isolates at home.

“Obviously, the manager is going to be connected, but we’ve already discussed about the tactics and everything that we have to try to be doing during the game,” said Borrell.

“During the game it might change but I have been working with him for seven years now and we think very alike.

“Again, I’ll take my decisions, but the manager is going to be connected and like any other time it’ll be between all of us.”
