Watford have the best away record in the Championship and victory at Bristol City tonight would move Gianfranco Zola’s side into the automatic promotion places.
The Hornets have won eight of their 14 games on the road this season and Saturday’s 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest moved them to within a point second-placed Leicester.
In striker Matej Vydra, Watford have the form player in the Championship. The Czech Republic international (above) has scored six goals in three games taking his total to 18 goals in 27 appearances since joining on loan from Udinese in the summer.
Vydra has reportedly attracted interest from Premier League clubs and team-mate Joel Ekstrand is not surprised how quickly the 20-year-old has settled in England.
Ekstrand said: “I was with Matej at Udinese a couple of years ago and he is a fantastic striker. I knew then that if he got the playing time, it didn't matter where for me, that he would start scoring goals.
“He has matured more now, he has more confidence and when he is in front of the goal, he is so focused and so talented, that nine times out of 10 he will score. He will just keep on going now I am sure.”
Watford have already scored as many goals as they managed in the whole of last season's Championship campaign.
In contrast, bottom side Bristol City have the weakest defence of any club in the Football League this season and have not kept a clean sheet since April last year.
Ekstrand, who is on loan from Udinese until the end of the season, said: “We know that we have a lot of players with very good quality so we are a dangerous team. We just have to keep playing the way we do and keep the confidence up.”
