Thibaut Courtois insists he is happy at Chelsea despite not being able to see his children regularly, and believes his contract situation at Stamford Bridge will be resolved by the end of the season.

The goalkeeper's current deal at Chelsea expires in 2019, with Courtois having already rejected the club's opening offer in May because it did not meet his wage demands of £200,000 per week.

The Belgian shot-stopper told a Spanish broadcaster this week that he could return to Spain - where he previously played on loan at Atletico Madrid for three years - to be nearer to his two young children, who live with his ex-partner in Madrid.

But in a more recent interview, the 25-year-old has admitted that he does not see any reason why he would not commit his future to Chelsea despite the fact that he would still not see his children regularly.

He told VTM Stadion: "I want to take my time.

"Of course there’s the situation with my children, but I’m happy here. I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t sign a new deal.

"There’s no pressure. I want to have an agreement before the end of season. With Chelsea, normally."

He added: "It’s not the right moment to make decisions. Not for me, not for Chelsea. The club know that too. In a few months we’ll sit around the table again."
