Thief steals from Chelsea football stars

Chelsea have called in police after six wallets, nine mobile phones and several watches were stolen from staff and players at the club training ground.

The thefts were discovered when players returned from training at the base in Cobham, Surrey.

A Chelsea spokesman said the items were stolen from the “club academy dressing room area”. He added that CCTV footage handed to police confirmed the thefts were carried out by a lone intruder. No arrests have been made.

It is the latest security breach at the facility. A knife was discovered in the changing room this year, although the club said it had been mislaid by a workman. Academy player Jacob Mellis was fired for letting off a smoke bomb, and three staff damaged the European Cup while posing for unauthorised pictures with the trophy.

Players have often complained about cash going missing from the changing room.
