'This season is not Tottenham's only chance to win the title,' insists Tim Sherwood

The majority of the Premier League's established elite have been powerless to prevent Leicester's unlikely march towards the title this season.

But Tottenham are still hanging onto the coattails of Claudio Ranieri's team with just five games left to play.

Mauricio Pochettino's young side have flown in the face of the weaknesses that used to define the north Londoners and are no longer 'Spursy', with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Manchester United the latest piece of proof.

Having worked with, and handed debuts to, several members of Tottenham's team Tim Sherwood is well placed to assess what the future could hold at White Hart Lane.

The 47-year-old spent five months in charge of Spurs prior to the start of Pochettino's reign and is adamant the Argentine coach deserves huge credit for the faith he has shown in the club's youngsters.

Sherwood has also dismissed any suggestion that this season could be Tottenham's 'only' chance to lift the title, with the likes of United, Manchester City and Chelsea set to strengthen significantly this summer.

The former Spurs boss believes the foundations are in place for the north Londoners to challenge for years to come and the lure of Champions League football - plus a new stadium - will only strengthen their hand.
