Thomas Lemar 'disappointed' by failed Arsenal move but wants second chance at Premier League switch

Thomas Lemar admits he was disappointed to miss out on summer moves to Arsenal and Liverpool this summer but hopes that his suitors will revive their interest in the summer.

The Monaco midfielder pulled out of a last-minute £92million switch to Arsenal on transfer deadline day in August - a deal that would have allowed Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester City - and was also a target for their Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Arsenal found their Sanchez replacement in Henrikh Mkhitaryan but Arsene Wenger confirmed after missing out on Lemar that he would revive his interest.

It appears that would be welcomed by the 22-year-old, who made no secret of his regrets over not having made a switch to the Premier League in the summer.

“I am not going to hide it, I was a bit disappointed,” Lemar said. “But there is no point fixating on that.

“I have continued to work so that these clubs might come back for me in the following transfer window.

“My future? I am open to everything. I love all the different leagues.”

Lemar found the net in France’s 3-2 defeat to Colombia on Friday night and has three goals and eight assists in what has been a largely disappointing season at club level with Monaco.
