Chile fans have invaded the Maracana media centre in a serious security breach in the build-up to their side’s match against Spain this evening.

Ticketless Chile supporters, believed to number up to 100, broke through a fence and charged into the stadium via the main press entrance.

Once inside, the fans wreaked havoc - trashing temporary walls and throwing plant pots.

A number of the intruders were detained by officials but others appeared to have made their way into the stands after breaking down a temporary wall.

Journalists captured the chaotic scenes as they unfolded inside the Maracana and posted their experiences on Twitter.
