Daniel Sturridge says Liverpool will have the belief to mount another title challenge next season if they maintain current form and finish in the top four.

The Reds returned to Champions League competition for the first time since 2009 this season and Sturridge believes a place in next year's tournament will help them charge towards the title next year.

Brendan Rodgers' men narrowly missed out on league honours last term and the blow impacted their start to the current campaign, but Liverpool have dropped just four points in their last 10 league fixtures and the mood around Anfield is upbeat.

Sturridge said: “The boys have fought back to where we are now and that is testament to the hard work everyone has put in.

"The formation is working, everyone is defending very well. It's great to see and long may it continue in terms of how we go out there with a positive attitude, try to play our football, try to break down the opposition and create chances to score goals.

"If we can finish in the top-four, which is definitely possible for us, then we can push on and challenge for the title again next season.

"It is important to secure fourth place and then from there look on. That's what we're aiming to do and if we can get higher than that then perfect."
