Perfect preparation for the Old Lady

This was ideal preparation for Tottenham for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Juventus on Wednesday.

Spurs were in complete control against Huddersfield and did not have to get out of second gear as they cruised to win that takes them above Liverpool and into third place in the Premier League, albeit potentially only momentarily.

Tottenham are now unbeaten in 17 matches are this was the perfect warm-up for their huge European night against Juve.

To Son or not to Son

Mauricio Pochettino has a tough decision over whether to start Heung-Min Son against Juventus.

Son scored twice against Huddersfield and it is going to be difficult for Pochettino to leave him out at Wembley on Wednesday. Son started ahead of Erik Lamela which suggests the latter could be preferred against Juve, but Son’s form gives Pochettino something to think about.

Son was replaced by Lamela after 70 minutes. Was that to keep him fresh for Wednesday?

Vertonghen was fighting to be fit for the second leg against Juve after he suffered an ankle problem in training last week.

The defender has been one of Tottenham’s best players this season and having him fit for Juve is a huge boost for Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs have made Wembley feel like home

Tottenham have not lost at Wembley in the Premier League since they were beaten by Chelsea in their first game here this season last August, and they have won 9 of their 14 games here in the Premier League.

Their only other defeat here this season came when West Ham won in the EFL Cup. Tottenham have made Wembley a fortress and they have really come into form ahead of their game against Juventus.
