Tottenham are one striker away from becoming the 'dominant force' in north London, according to former England international Danny Mills.

Spurs have been unable to match their rivals' achievements throughout the modern era but currently boast a six-point lead over the Gunners ahead of the Premier League run-in.

Mauricio Pochettino has ushered in a new defensive resilience at White Hart Lane this season and the Argentine's young side have a chance to not only finish above Arsenal but also lift the title for the first time since 1961.

The margin between the two clubs used to be far greater and Mills believes Pochettino is only one new recruit away from usurping Arsene Wenger's team.

"Spurs fans might be excused for worrying that this might be the best chance they’ll ever have at winning a Premier League title but there season hasn’t been a fluke," he told Sportlobster.

"If they want to add to the squad with a couple of quality signings there is absolutely no reason why they can’t have another season like this next year and maintain a title challenge.

"If they do that we could be talking about Tottenham replacing Arsenal as the dominant force in North London.

"Realistically, what would Spurs need to do? Get in another centre-forward to compliment Kane and allow rotation. And that’s probably it," he added.

Harry Kane is Tottenham's only senior out-and-out striker but is currently the Premier League's top scorer.

Spurs were strongly linked with a number of forwards during the January transfer window but Pochettino rejected the chance to add to his front line.
