Leicester's 2-0 win at Sunderland last Sunday saw coach Claudio Ranieri cry tears of joy on the pitch at full-time, and the result no doubt had the same effect on one lucky fan who bet on the Premier League's leaders' improbable rise.
Few would have predicted a year ago that Leicester - who narrowly avoided relegation from the top flight last year - would be on course for the most improbable title triumph in footballing history this term, but a £20 5,000/1 each-way bet on the Foxes to finish first has paid off for one Sky Bet punter.
The company announced on Wednesday that the unnamed fan decided to cash out for the princely sum of £108,703.41 as Leicester head into the final five games of the season with a seven-point advantage over second-placed Tottenham.
Despite Leicester's lead over Spurs - as well as third-placed Arsenal trailing the Foxes by 13 points - the fan decided not to risk the bet further, passing up on the chance to land £133k had they stuck it out to see Leicester lift the title.
Leicester finishing second or third would have seen the each-way winnings reduced to £25,020, and Sky Bet's Sandro Di Michele said: "Backers of Leicester have faced a real head-scratcher over the last few weeks.
"All these 1-0 wins and even their 2-0 win at Sunderland have come with moments of genuine alarm and I must say bravo to this customer for seeing it through for so long.
"Presumably the punter was keen to make sure they won six figures for their small each-way play and now that it's job done, they can relax and enjoy the rest of the season."
