'Tottenham can win the Premier League!' - Harry Redknapp backs Jose Mourinho's 'scary' Spurs for title tilt

Tottenham have a squad capable of finishing in the top four and even mounting a surprise Premier League challenge this season, says former boss Harry Redknapp.

Spurs have operated shrewdly in the transfer market to sign Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, while Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart all arrived earlier in the transfer window.

Jose Mourinho finally ended his long search for a striker to provide competition to Harry Kane, finalising a loan deal for Benfica frontman Carlos Vinicius.

The north London side stunned 10-man Manchester United with a 6-1 thrashing at Old Trafford on Sunday with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son in superb form.

And Redknapp, who managed Spurs between 2008 and 2012, believes the club are on course for a top-four finish and could even mount a title challenge.

"If you ask me, honestly, I think Spurs will make top four," he told Sky Sports.

"I think they could even win the league this year. I know people are going to think I am crazy, but I look at that squad.

"It looks like it is going to be an open year - look what happened at the weekend.

“I am telling you, that is some squad they have got. They have got cover in every position. It is a really powerful squad.

"If anyone is going to upset the big two... go through that team. Have a look at that squad. Go through that forward line: Son, Harry Kane, Gareth Bale... look at the strength in depth.

"They are full of midfield players. Defensively, they have two right-backs and two left-backs.

“They could be scary. I think Tottenham are a danger to anyone in that division this year.

"Lump on, whatever price they ask. If anyone else is going to do it, it could be Spurs.”
