Hugo Lloris could miss the start of the 2015-16 Premier League season after the Tottenham goalkeeper suffered a fractured wrist.
Spurs confirmed the injury on Monday evening after revealing Lloris had sustained the fracture during the close season, although details of how it occurred were not given.
"The club can confirm that Hugo Lloris has sustained a fractured wrist during the close season period," a statement on the club's official website read.
"The France goalkeeper will continue to work alongside the first-team squad to build up his fitness in a bid to be ready for the start of the season.
"Our medical team will continue to monitor his rehabilitation and progress during pre-season."
Lloris, who joined Spurs from Lyon in 2012, is the north London side's first-choice goalkeeper although the France international has seen himself linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months.
Reports have claimed that Louis van Gaal is keen on Lloris as a potential replacement for David de Gea, who continues to be touted with a summer move to Real Madrid.
Despite Lloris recently admitting he wants to play in the Champions League, the 28-year-old signed a five-year extension at White Hart Lane, which will see the goalkeeper stay until 2019.
Tottenham's first match of the new Premier League season is away to Manchester United on August 8.
