Tottenham's Harry Kane 'not too bothered' by August goal-scoring duck

Tottenham striker Harry Kane claims he is not concerned by his career August duck after failing to open his account for the season in the Wembley defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The England international, who is one goal away from his century for Spurs, is yet to score a Premier League goal in the opening calendar month of the season.

Kane went close by hitting the post on Sunday as Spurs lost 2-1 to the champions, but insists he is not bothered by the record.

"It is something that is spoken about a lot, but I am not too bothered by it," the 24-year-old told The Telegraph.

"I try to play well for the team and play well every game.

"Sometimes the ball does not go in, as it didn’t against Chelsea with one off the post and the few chances I had.

"It is part of the game, I just need to keep working hard, keep my head down and I am sure the goals will come."

Kane, who now has 10 league games without a goal in August, has had a slow start to the season once again this term.

He missed a hatful of chances against Newcastle on the opening weekend before seeing a goal chalked off for offside.

Burnley visit Wembley on Sunday giving Kane one last chance to put an end to the record this season, with their following league game not until September.
