Jose Mourinho questions Tottenham’s decision to sack Nuno Espirito Santo and appoint Antonio Conte

Jose Mourinho has questioned Tottenham’s decision to sack Nuno Espirito Santo and hire Antonio Conte.

Mourinho, who is now in charge of Roma, was sacked by Spurs back in April.

Tottenham temporarily replaced Mourinho with Ryan Mason before appointing Nuno during the summer.

Nuno, though, lasted just four months in the job and he was sacked by Spurs on Monday.

Mourinho has now defended Nuno, highlighting his record while in charge of Wolves and describing him as a “very good coach”.

The Roma boss has also described Conte in such way, but he has questioned Spurs hiring him to replace Nuno by suggesting the pair are similar standard of coaches.

“I think Conte is a good coach, but Nuno is a very good coach,” said Mourinho.

“He did a fantastic job at Wolves for four to five years, not one year or a few months. Tottenham have a very good coach now, but they had that with Nuno.”
