Pavel Nedved plays down Juventus change despite links with Antonio Conte

Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved has confirmed Massimiliano Allegri will remain in charge.

The 55-year-old is under increasing pressure with the Turin giants after failing to convince during his second stint in charge.

Allegri won five Scudettos between 2015 and 2019 before he was replaced by Maurizio Sarri and returned to the Allianz Stadium last year.

Where his first reign in charge was one of relentless success, Juve currently sit eighth in Serie A and face a battle to progress into the Champions League knockout stages after losing to Maccabi Haifa.

As a result, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a move back to Juve, where he won three League titles to start their era of dominance.

Conte’s contract with Spurs will expire at the end of the season and talk over his long-term future in north London has frequently emerged since his appointment little under a year ago.

Still, Nedved has revealed Juve are backing Allegri to come through a recent poor run of results.

“The President was very clear on Allegri’s future — he stated that the manager is staying,” he said.

“We know there’s a long road ahead, and it will take a while to get out of this situation.”
