Tottenham blow with Richarlison facing up to a month out after ‘serious injury’

Tottenham striker Richarlison will miss up to a month of action after suffering a hamstring injury at the World Cup.

The Brazilian led his country’s line in Qatar, scoring three times as the Selecao fell at the quarter-final stage.

During Brazil’s meeting with Croatia, the 25-year-old played 84 minutes despite appearing to be in discomfort and duly missed a dramatic extra-time and penalty shootout.

He reported back at the club’s Hotspur Way training base last week and was sent for a scan, the results of which show a “serious injury”.

“I spoke with the medical department, they told me we need three to four weeks. His injury was a serious injury,” said Conte.

Spurs are back in action on Boxing Day with a trip to Brentford and face crunch ties with Arsenal and Manchester City before the end of January.

Richarlison, who also missed a handful of games prior to the World Cup with a hamstring issue, now faces a race against time to feature in those.
