Project Restart latest: Tottenham vs Manchester United 'lined up as first game after Premier League resume'

1/31

Tottenham's home game against Manchester United is being considered for the first Premier League game back should the season resume, according to reports.

Discussions over the Premier League's 'Project Restart' continued this week, with the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport on Thursday urging a number of games to be broadcast on free-to-air TV .

There are 92 games left of the top-flight season, with Sky Sports and BT Sport understood to have the rights to around half that total under their original agreements.

The Mail report that TV companies have been told to prepare for a Friday night restart date next month, currently touted to be June 12 or 19, with one game.

United's first visit to Tottenham's £1billion stadium "has been mentioned" as a candidate for the first game back, a match originally scheduled for March 15.

The Friday night game would be followed by four games on both Saturday and Sunday and one game on Monday evening, with all 10 games broadcast live on TV.

The 3pm Saturday blackout for TV companies has been lifted, allowing as much live football to be broadcast in the UK as possible.

Beyond Sky Sports and BT, games could be shown on YouTube or via the red button.
