Kenya head coach Sebastien Migne has accused Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama of unprofessionalism after the midfielder failed to report for international duty.

The Kenya captain was called up for the Afcon qualifier against Ghana despite struggling with a knee injury.

Migne said: “Wanyama should have travelled so that our medical staff can assess his injury. We should be a bit professional in such situations.”

Tottenham, however, are understood to believe that the midfielder was withdrawn through official channels after he was deemed not fit enough to travel.

The 27-year-old is yet to feature for Tottenham this season, and missed last parts of the last campaign with hamstring and cartilage injuries.

Wanyama was an unused substitute in the recent defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.

Meanwhile, Jan Vertonghen expects Tottenham to extend his current contract , which expires at the end of the season, until 2020. He said: “I think they will take up the option.”
