Tottenham must be 'mentally prepared' for trip to Turf Moor, insists Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has urged Tottenham to ensure they are mentally prepared for this weekend's Premier League clash against Burnley.

Sean Dyche's side may be languishing in 13th place in the table but they boast a stellar home record at Turf Moor.

A trip to Lancashire has become one of the most difficult away days in England's top tier and only Swansea, Arsenal and Manchester City have beaten the Clarets on their own patch this season.

Spurs came from behind to beat Burnley 2-1 at White Hart Lane in December but have failed to win any of their last three fixtures away from the comforts of north London.

Pochettino has had precious little time to work with his squad following the conclusion of the international break and the Argentine coach has urged his players to ensure they can cope in such testing circumstances.

"After the international break it is difficult because all the players arrive on a different date - but we trust we will be ready to compete," Pochettino told Tottenham's official website.

"In the last few months every time that we played it was a very important week. The next will be the same and until the end of the season every game will be important.

"[We need] to try to fight and be there if Chelsea fail - it's important to take three points. It will be very tough. Burnley always push you to give your best.

"We need to be ready not only physically, technically and tactically but mentally to fight with a team that will fight against us," he added.
