Tottenham cruised into the FA Cup fifth-round with an entertaining 3-1 win over Brighton, clinched by a Harry Kane brace.

The England captain’s curling effort put Spurs in front after 13 minutes and Emerson Royal’s cross deflected home off Solly March to double their lead.

Brighton improved after the break and Yves Bissouma gave them hope with a deflected effort.

Spurs hit back immediately, Kane sliding in at the back post to score after a superb run by Heung-min Son.

Dan Kilpatrick was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to rate the Spurs players...

Hugo Lloris 7

Made a smart save to repel Bissouma’s deflected shot and saved 1v1 from Neal Maupay.

Davinson Sanchez 6

A solid display on the right of the back three. Got stuck in but passing mixed.

Cristian Romero 8

A dominant and eye-catching return to the side in the heart of the three. Composed on the ball, aggressive without it.

Ben Davies 7

Brought the ball out of defence well in a confident display.

Emerson Royal 7

His goal was a fluke but credit for a run from inside his own half. Had a couple of hairy moments defensively but overall an encouraging performance.

Harry Winks 6

Kept it safe, aside from one decent long-range effort in the first half.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 7

Full of running but made to look pedestrian by Yves Bissouma at times. Made Kane’s goal with a simple pass.

Sergio Reguilon 7

Got forward well, using his pace to get behind Brighton. Forced a smart save from Robert Sanchez late on.

Lucas Moura 5

Barely registered in an unusually subdued display.

Heung-min Son 7

Turned on the afterburners to make the third goal on an encouraging and energetic return to the side.

Harry Kane 8

Took his first goal superbly and at the heart of Spurs’ best play. His link-up with Son was eye-catching, and led to the third goal (with a helping hand from Adam Webster).

Substitutes

Dejan Kulusevski (Lucas 68’) 7

Saw plenty of the ball on his debut and set up a glorious chance for Bergwijn. Looked technically good and clearly favours coming inside on his left foot.

Steven Bergwijn (Son 68’) 5

Blazed over a glorious chance to make it 4-1 in a ragged cameo.

Joe Rodon (Romero 76’) 6

Helped Spurs to see out the game.

Rodrigo Bentancur (Winks 76’) 7

Won over the crowd with some silky footwork, showing no shortage of confidence on debut.

Matt Doherty (Emerson 86’) N/A

Not used: Gollini, Sessegnon, White, Scarlett.
