Tottenham have confirmed the signing of right-back Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year-deal.

The Ivorian international, thought to have set Spurs back around £23m, is Mauricio Pochettino’s fourth signing of the summer – after Paulo Gazzaniga, Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth – and comes in as a replacement for Kyle Walker, sold to Manchester City for £50m earlier in the window.

The north Londoners were left with an anxious wait over the Home Office’s decision to grant the 24-year-old, who was refused entry to the UK for a Champions League game with Arsenal last season after assaulting a police officer, a UK work visa.

Aurier appealed, which was successful after the conviction was reportedly reduced to a fine.

The former Toulouse man, who will battle with Kieran Trippier for the right wing-back berth in Pochettino’s side, brings with him Champions League experience. He will wear the No.24 shirt.

"This is a huge and exciting opportunity at a massive football club and I am determined to prove myself as a professional both on and off the pitch," Aurier told the club's official website.

"This is a fresh start for me and I will do everything to make the Spurs fanbase, which is huge and diverse, proud of me.

"The fans are the most important people at any club and I am looking forward to showing them and everyone at Spurs the real Serge Aurier.”
