Tottenham pair James Maddison and Micky van de Ven remain on course to return in January, says Ange Postecoglou.

Midfielder Maddison and defender Van de Ven were two of Spurs' best performers during the opening weeks of the season before both suffering injuries against Chelsea in early November.

Maddison suffered an ankle injury while Van de Ven damaged his thigh, ruling both players out for around two months.

Postecoglou is happy with progress each has made during their rehabilitions, but is not sure exactly when they will be ready to compete.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, the Spurs boss said: "Neither of them are anywhere near training with the first team at the moment. Micky might be just ahead of schedule in terms of with Madders.

"Both [return] kind of January and [Rodrigo] Bentancur fairly similar. Until I see them out with us, it's hard for me to say."

Tottenham are next in action on Saturday as Everton visit north London.
