Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed the club will not contest Moussa Sissoko's violent conduct charge handed out by the Football Association today.

The FA today decided to charge the Spurs midfielder with alleged violent conduct after referee Craig Pawson missed an incident against Bournemouth on Saturday, in which Sissoko caught Harry Arter in the face with his elbow.

Sissoko apologised to the Cherries midfielder after the game, but he will now miss Spurs' upcoming matches against Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal after the club decided not to contest the charge.

"We accept it, as a club," Pochettino said. "After viewing the video we accept the charge and now we move forward."

The Argentine coach had said after Tottenham's Premier League game in Bournemouth on Saturday that he had not had a clear view of the incident.

But speaking on Monday ahead of Spurs' EFL Cup clash with Liverpool at Anfield, Pochettino said: "After the game it was difficult. You asked me about the action and it was true it was difficult to appreciate the situation, what happened.

"It wasn't intentional but his elbow was in Arter's face. It's clear. We accept the charge and now it's to move forward with him suspended for three games."

When then asked whether Sissoko had apologised to Arter, Pochettino replied: "I believe that it wasn't his intention what happened.

"Sometimes an action, during the game, happens like this. We will keep him fit in training for when he's available again."
