Tottenham will assess Marcus Edwards on Friday before deciding whether to include the youngster in his squad for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers.

Edwards has emerged as one of the brightest prospect in Tottenham's youth academy, having produced a series of impressive performances during a pre-season trip to Australia.

The 18-year-old made his first-team debut during September's EFL Cup victory over Gillingham but an ankle injury has restricted his progress in recent months.

Edwards has now returned to training but Pochettino is undecided on the teenager's potential involvement with the first-team this weekend.

“Today [Thursday] was his first training session with the group and we’ll see. First of all we need to see him Friday and after that we’ll decide," said Pochettino.

"It’s true that it’s a little bit far to the level of the group but it’s his first day today with the group.

"Now he needs to build his fitness and try to achieve the same level as the whole group.”

Spurs will be installed as clear favourites against the League Two outfit and Pochettino is expected to make a flurry of changes to the team which drew at Manchester City last weekend.
