Tottenham to ban abusive fans

11 April 2012

Tottenham today vowed to ban any fan found guilty of offensive chanting during yesterday's north London derby at White Hart Lane.

Sections of the home crowd taunted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger while some away fans were widely condemned for mocking the deadly gun attack on the Togo team bus which Emmanuel Adebayor survived.

Spurs confirmed today that both home and away fans were ejected during the game.

"It is club policy to ban fans that are found guilty of abusive chanting," a club spokeswoman said. "We evicted several fans at the time during the match. The way we deal with large numbers is we take out one or two who are initiating the chants."

Spurs have taken steps to stamp out abusive chanting. The club have CCTV coverage of all stands and have posters at White Hart Lane urging fans to report any offensive chanting.
