Tottenham are confident key players will soon follow Christian Eriksen’s lead and sign new long-term contracts at the club.

Spurs have been working on deals for several members of their squad, and finally agreed terms on a four-year deal worth £75,000 a week for Eriksen on Tuesday.

Now club executives are hopeful of pushing through agreements for Eric Dier and Danny Rose in the coming weeks. Standard Sport also understands Dele Alli may also be offered fresh terms, even though the 20-year-old signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal only in January.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep his young squad together and has urged the club to ensure the best players’ futures are secured.

He said on Thursday: “Other players will sign new deals in the future. The main group of the squad are very happy, we have created a very good atmosphere in the changing room and at the training ground. They believe in way we play and we work. I’m sure a lot of players after Christian Eriksen will show their commitment to the club.”

Harry Kane, Tottenham’s top scorer in each of the last two seasons, is likely to become the club’s highest earner on £100,000 a week if – as expected – he agrees a contract that will double his salary.

Dier signed a new deal only last summer but has since become a vital player for both his club and England. Operating in a deep midfield role, Dier caught the eye of Bayern Munich last season and is also thought to have impressed other top European clubs with his performances at Euro 2016.

Dier is aware of the interest from Europe but at present, believes his long-term future lies at Tottenham. The 22-year-old has an excellent relationship with Pochettino and was thrilled when the Argentine signed a new five-year deal in May.

Rose, meanwhile, is likely to miss Tottenham’s forthcoming fixtures with a hamstring injury sustained while on England duty.

The severity of the problem is still unclear but as Standard Sport reported on Wednesday, Spurs are planning for their next two fixtures – at Stoke on Saturday, and against Monaco in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday – without him.

Ben Davies will deputise but Rose’s return cannot come soon enough for Tottenham. The 26-year-old’s raids forward from left-back are vital to Spurs’ attacking threat.

Meanwhile, Kane believes Tottenham’s dealings in January have made the squad better than the one that sustained a title challenge for much of last season.

During the summer window, Spurs signed Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle for a deal that could be worth £30million, while also adding goalkeeper Pau Lopez, midfielder Victor Wanyama, wide attacker Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and forward Vincent Janssen. Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Alex Pritchard were among those sold.

Kane has yet to score this season but is confident about the future. He told Sky Sports: “I think we’ve got a stronger squad than last year. We’ve bought some great players who have fitted in perfectly. So now we’re ready to go. We’ve a lot of games, being in the Champions League against tough opponents.”
