Tottenham told to ‘give up’ on Berahino as West Brom stand firm over striker – Friday’s top transfer stories

Going nowhere: Saido Berahino
Sam Long14 January 2016

The January transfer window is about to reach the halfway stage but the flurry of deals that most football fans were hoping for are yet to materialise.

It’s deja vu for Tottenham and Daniel Levy again as Jeremy Peace refuses to budge over striker Saido Berahino.

As reported by Standard Sport, Spurs have been mulling over whether to renew their interest in the West Brom forward, amid fears that his character would unsettle the happiness in the White Hart Lane camp.

But that decision appears to have been taken away from them.

Reports late Thursday night suggested that Spurs, along with Newcastle, had made their interest known in the England Under-21 star, only for Peace to say – in no uncertain terms – that they were not willing to sell.

For Spurs it’s an all too familiar story. Mauricio Pochettino, desperate to strengthen his attacking options, saw no less than three bids for Berahino rejected in the summer.
