Mauricio Pochettino is eager for his Tottenham squad to be settled at the start of pre-season as they prepare for a new Premier League campaign.

Spurs finished third last season and will compete in the Champions League for only the second time in their history next term.

But Pochettino is yet to add to his squad this summer, despite previously speaking of his desire to bolster his options in order to compete on four fronts.

And the Argentine coach wants his players to be fully focused when they return to White Hart Lane, which suggests he wants his business to be completed as he begins to implement his plans.

"Now we are in the middle of the summer and it's very important to start the pre-season with all clear, with our squad and the players focused on the start of the season," he told the club's official website.

"It's always important to do well and be ready to compete. It's always important to start good," he added.

The full Premier League fixture list has been released and Spurs begin their campaign with a tough away trip to Goodison Park where they will face Ronald Koeman's Everton.

Pochettino is adamant the Toffees will prove to be a stern test for his side but is already excited by the prospect of returning to action.

"[Everton] It's a tough game," he continued. "All the games in the Premier League are tough but starting at Goodison Park is difficult.

"Like in the last two years here. I remember my first game in the Premier League was at West Ham.

"The second year was against Manchester United at Old Trafford and now Goodison Park - it's never easy for us.

"But it's OK. We are excited because we start to feel that the next season is coming."

Spurs started sluggishly last season, winning just one of their opening five games, and will be keen to avoid a repeat as they bid to build a title challenge.
