Jermain Defoe will make his Sunderland debut against his former side Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
The two-time Spurs striker was training with the club ahead of a return to the Premier League, and completed his move from Toronto to Sunderland on Friday.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Adebayor returns to the substitutes bench having not featured for Tottenham since November, as Harry Kane supports Roberto Soldado in attack.
