Kevin Wimmer insists Tottenham will find top form at Chelsea despite their Champions League exit.

Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday to face the league leaders, who have won their last six Premier League matches and not conceded a goal in the competition since September 24.

Tottenham have won only one of their last nine matches in all competitions and are still expected to be without key defender Toby Alderweireld, who has been missing for more than a month with a knee nerve problem.

But Wimmer pointed to Spurs’ display in the 1-1 draw at Arsenal, which followed a flat performance in the 1-0 defeat by Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League at Wembley, as cause for optimism.

The Austria defender said: “We have shown before that when we have a bad game in the Champions League, we turn things around in the league. We are totally focused on Saturday’s game, we want to stay unbeaten in the league and we will do everything to make this happen.

“It is difficult to say why the Champions League didn’t go well for us and we were all very disappointed but we must focus on the Premier League.”

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to restore Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen to the starting XI, with both surprisingly left on the bench for the 2-1 defeat at Monaco.

Vertonghen may have to fill in at left-back as Danny Rose is suspended and Ben Davies injured.
