Tottenham 'worried' by Christaan Eriksen abdominal injury, claims Denmark boss Age Hareide

Tottenham look to have been dealt another long-term injury concern after Denmark manager Age Hareide revealed midfielder Christian Eriksen continues to struggle with an abdominal problem.

After Belgium manager Roberto Martinez last week claimed that Mousa Demeble could be out for six weeks, something which didn’t sit too well with Mauricio Pochettino, Eriksen’s national team manager has joined in, revealing that the north Londoners are worried by the Dane’s situation.

Eriksen hasn’t featured for Spurs since the win at Brighton last month, and will likely sit out the international trip to Ireland this week.

Speaking in an interview with Danish outlet Canal 9, Hareide said: "Christian [Eriksen] has a problem with his abdominal muscle, and Tottenham have reported that it is of long-term nature.

"It is doubtful whether we will bring him to Dublin and make him play. I do not think that Tottenham are particularly keen on that.

"It has been a long time since he played in the match against FC Barcelona [in the Champions League]. Against Cardiff, he was also out [of action].

"It has been over a week and I know that he has known about [the injury] for a while.

"Such an injury can be chronic, and it is true that Tottenham are worried."

Following the international break Spurs face a gruelling run which will see them face West Ham (twice), PSV Eindhoven and Manchester City in the space of 11 days.
