Tottenham XI vs Brentford: Confirmed team news and lineup - Kane and Son start; Dele Alli on the bench

Tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final offers Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham a glorious chance to get within touching distance of a first trophy since 2008, so Championship side Brentford are in for a tough task against a strong Spurs XI.

The postponement of last week's Premier League game against Fulham may yet leave Spurs with a fixture headache down the line, but in the short-term it allows Mourinho more confidence to stick with a spine of Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane against the Bees.

Matt Doherty is suspended after being sent off against Leeds on Saturday but Serge Aurier starts, while Sergio Reguilon is on the left despite disappointing Mourinho by breaching coronavirus guidelines over Christmas.

Harry Winks has been preferred in the last three matches ahead of Moussa Sissoko but the Frenchman offers fresh legs in the midfield, while Dele Alli is on the bench once again.

Lucas Moura also started at the bet365 Stadium and is given the nod over Steven Bergwijn after Mourinho revealed the misfiring Dutchman is carrying a series of knocks.

Erik Lamela is unavailable, although Mourinho has refused to say why, while Giovani Lo Celso is expected to miss the rest of the month with a hamstring strain.

Gareth Bale is unlikely to be ready after injuring his calf at Stoke, while Joe Rodon is cup-tied having featured in the competition for Swansea.Tottenham XI: Lloris, Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele, Lucas, Son, Kane
