Cardiff 0 Tottenham 3: Quick-fire Spurs back up to second with confident win

Tottenham climbed back into second place in the Premier League table with an easy 3-0 win over Cardiff.

First-half goals from Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son set Spurs on their way to their 10th away victory of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino was keen for his side to bounce back after the shock 3-1 home defeat to Wolves at the weekend and it didn't take long for a response.

Just three minutes into the game, Kieran Trippier whipped in a dangerous cross which Cardiff failed to clear and there was Kane to bundle it home, albeit somewhat fortuitously.

But there was nothing lucky about the second goal just nine minutes later. Son found Eriksen on the edge the box and being allowed the freedom of the city, Eriksen coolly slotted into the far corner.

It was game, set and match before the half-hour mark when Kane threaded a pass through to Son, and with a clever turn he found the far corner.

The second half was more of a training exercise for the away side, with Cardiff unable to respond despite the introduction of Junior Hoilett at the break.

Son did have a chance to grab a second after being set up by Kane again but Neil Etheridge made a smart block to keep the score respectable.

But the damage was done as far as Cardiff were concerned as Tottenham got back to winning ways to put that defeat against Wolves far behind them.
