Danny Rose has returned to the Tottenham squad for the Audi Cup in Munich this week, having failed to secure a move away from the club.

Rose did not join his teammates for the International Champions Cup matches in Singapore and Shanghai this month in order to be given time to arrange a transfer but no move has materialised, and he was part of the group which flew to Germany on Monday evening.

With fellow left-back Ben Davies still sidelined following groin surgery last month, Rose is in contention to start against Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

It is understood there have been enquiries about the England defender from overseas clubs, with Juventus and Paris St-Germain believed to be among the interested parties, but Spurs are yet to receive a firm bid and manager Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear he would reintegrate Rose into the squad if he cannot find a new employer.

Rose, who has previously expressed a desire to return to the north of England, is understood to be determined not to be forced out of Tottenham and he will only accept a club on his terms.

Transfer-listed winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has also joined the travelling party, while club captain Hugo Lloris has recovered from a bout of tonsillitis which forced him to return home from Singapore without training or playing in the 3-2 friendly win over Juventus.

Serge Aurier misses the trip after undergoing hand surgery, reportedly after smashing a table in frustration during the Ivory Coast's African Cup of Nations campaign. The right-back is currently in non-contact training.

Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama, who both endured injury-hit campaigns last season, also remain on the sidelines after missing the Asia trip. Dier is recovering from an unspecified procedure which came to light on the first day of pre-season and Wanyama's long-term knee problems continue after he felt a niggle after training on Monday.
