Tottenham will host the finals of rugby union’s Champions Cup and Challenge Cup in 2021.

Spurs always intended their £1billion home to be used by multiple sports events as it is equipped with a state-of-the-art retractable artificial pitch.

The club have an agreement in place to host a number of NFL matches, while last month Saracens agreed a five-year deal to play their annual showpiece Premiership match there from 2020.

It is now believed the stadium will also stage the finals of the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, European rugby’s two premier club competitions.

An official announcement is expected this month. Newcastle United’s St James’ Park will this weekend host Saracens v Leinster in the Champions Cup and Clermont v La Rochelle in the Challenge Cup.
