Tottenham are hopeful Dele Alli can still face Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final second leg next week despite fearing he has a broken hand.

Alli was replaced clutching his left wrist after falling awkwardly in the final stages of Spurs’ 1-0 win in Tuesday’s first leg.

He was assessed on Wednesday and the club are now exploring ways to ensure he can remain fit for the run-in, although he looks likely to sit out Saturday’s visit of Huddersfield.

Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend is playing with a protective cast after breaking his hand and Alli could play through the run-in with a similar set-up.

Losing Alli would be another significant blow, with Spurs already resigned to Harry Kane missing the rest of the season.

Kane was due for a primary scan on Thursday after he suffered suspected ankle ligament damage against City.

The England captain is said to be plotting his comeback for the Nations League finals in early June or a potential Champions League Final in Madrid on June 1.
