Tottenham's Danny Rose flattered by Manchester United interest as Chelsea also monitor left-back

Danny Rose is happy to be linked with Manchester United, though Tottenham intend to reject any offers for him in this transfer window.

Standard Sport understands Rose, who is sidelined with a knee injury, has been assessing his options for some time at Spurs, and — even though he is happy at the club — has been wondering whether he might one day benefit from a change of scene.

Rose is regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe. When Manchester City signed Kyle Walker for £50million, they asked about Rose — and were rebuffed.

Rose wants to win trophies and it is believed he has started to ask himself whether this will be possible at Spurs. If Rose were to join any of the clubs who have shown interest, he would earn a substantial pay rise.

Jose Mourinho, the Manchester United boss, is a long-term admirer of Rose. Paris Saint-Germain also followed Rose last season, while Chelsea are also monitoring the situation.

Yet unless the picture changes dramatically, it is unlikely Rose will leave Spurs this summer.

Rose has not played since damaging his knee in a 0-0 draw at Sunderland on January 31. He is unlikely to be back in first-team action before September.
