West Brom manager Tony Pulis believes Claudio Yacob deserves credit for his tussle with Tottenham's Dele Alli.

The Spurs midfielder punched Yacob in the stomach during Monday's 1-1 draw between the two sides but escaped punishment at the time of the incident.

Alli received a three-game suspension after television footage was reviewed by the FA earlier this week, which has ended the 20-year-old's domestic season.

Yacob did not go to ground after being struck by his opponent and Pulis believes his player's reaction should be commended.

“I’m honestly staggered at how no one seems to have praised Claudio for his reaction," Pulis said.

“A lot of people have been backing Alli in all this, yet no one has said a dickie bird in standing up for Claudio.

“He didn’t make a meal of it and I think he deserves a lot of credit for that.

“Have a look around at the players who roll around when they haven’t even been touched.

“That’s English players, as well as South American players, falling all over the place. I don’t think the kid has taken the credit he deserves,” the Welshman added.

Mauricio Pochettino: Dele Alli’s character has helped him become ‘one of the best players

Mauricio Pochettino has rejected the suggestion he should try to change Alli's style of play as he believes the midfielder's character has helped him reach the top level.
