Dele Alli believes Tottenham's disappointment after the north London derby shows how well Spurs have started the season.

Defeat to Manchester United on the opening day remains the only blotch on the Lilywhites' record book and they extended their unbeaten run to 11 games after a 1-1 draw against their fierce rivals.

Harry Kane's strike on the half hour mark appeared to send Mauricio Pochettino's side on their way to victory but Kieran Gibbs grabbed a late equaliser to rescue a point for Arsene Wenger's side.

Alli is adamant that Spurs dominated the midfield battle and the fact that he and his teammates were frustrated not to secure the win is a sign of the progress they have made this term.

"The boys will be disappointed," he told Sky Sports. "We feel we've dominated most of the game.

"It was a good game for us as a team. I think we played really well and I think that shows how well we're doing at the minute. To come away to Arsenal and be disappointed with a 1-1.

"That's the way we've been playing all season; pressing and being on the front foot all the time

"We know they've got a good midfield and are a good passing team but so are we and we knew if we dominated in the middle of the pitch we could run the game and we did that."

Kane echoed Alli's sentiments but believes Spurs should reflect on one point gained rather than two points lost.

"After playing so well we are disappointed not to win but when we reflect we'll realise it's a good point," he told the club's official website.

Tottenham moved up to fifth place in the Premier League table after today's draw while Arsenal missed the chance to move into pole position.
