Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino secured a total of 25 votes for 'The Best Fifa Men's Coach of the Year 2016' award.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and new Chelsea chief Antonio Conte were overlooked by national coaches, national team captains and media representatives, with both men failing to have a vote cast in their favour.
Pochettino led Spurs to third in the Premier League - one place adrift of Wenger's Gunners - while Conte guided Italy to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.
Leicester manager Ranieri scooped the prize, having led Leicester City to a surprise Premier League title last term.
But Pochettino's presence on the 10-man shortlist - with Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp the only other Premier League representative - suggests his stock is very much on the rise.
Notable votes for the Spurs boss included - perhaps unsurprisingly - Hugo Lloris, who picked his manager behind Ranieri and France boss Didier Deschamps.
But Victor Wanyama went two better than his Spurs teammate and named Pochettino as his first choice.
England-born New Zealand coach Anthony Hudson was the only other voter to name Pochettino in first place, having been impressed with the Argentine's progress at Spurs.
Current Argentina boss Edgardo Bauza named Pochettino in second place behind Atletico Madrid chief Diego Simeone, suggesting his is work at White Hart Lane is looked upon favourably in his homeland.
Meanwhile, national team captains Manuel Neuer, Ashley Williams, Steven Davis and Mikel John Obi also appear to be fans of Pochettino after picking him as either their third or second choices.
